Making a Booking
All bookings must be guaranteed with a credit card. The person who books the room must use a card in their own name. The cardholder must be one of the guests staying. This person will be responsible for all of the rooms they book.
We don’t charge your card at the time of booking but just hold the number to guarantee the rooms. You will be asked to pay for the accommodation in person at the time of your stay.
Paying for your Accommodation
We don’t take any payments or deposits from you in advance. You will be provided with an invoice at the time of your stay. You can pay by one of the following methods:
- credit card (but not American Express or Diners Club)
- debit card
We do not currently charge a surcharge for making payments by credit card. We regret that we no longer accept personal cheques, company cheques or travellers cheques.
If your stay is for longer than 7 days, we will ask you to settle your account weekly.
Cancelling a Booking
We ask for 7 days notice of cancellation and this applies to all of the days that the rooms are reserved for. If you cancel with less notice than this, there could be a charge made to your card if we don’t succeed in selling the rooms to someone else. The cancellation charge is 100% of the price quoted and it applies to all cancelled days within the 7 day notice period that are not sold to someone else.
If you make a booking and fail to turn up or cancel on the day that you are due to check in, you will be liable for the full price of all of the cancelled dates that are within the 7 day notice period.
In all cases where cancellation occurs with less than 7 days notice, we will do our best to sell the rooms. No charge will be made for any room nights that are sold to other people
Check In/Out Times
Standard Check In time is between 4 pm and 9 pm. If you wish to check in outside of these times, it is very often possible but we advise arranging it to make sure that someone is here to greet you and look after you on arrival. Check out times are between 7.30 am and 10.30 am.
On arriving at the guest house, we will ask you to complete a registration form. If your home address is overseas, you will be required to include your passport details on this form.
Wedgewood House is a completely non smoking establishment. It is also now illegal to smoke inside our house. If you wish to smoke, you will have to go outside the building. We regret that we do not have any shelters or other exterior provision for smokers.
If you smoke inside the property, you will automatically be liable for a fine of &
£100 plus any other associated costs, which may include:
- any costs incurred in accommodating subsequent guests in another guest house or hotel.
- any loss of income to ourselves
- You will be asked to check out immediately and you will still be liable for the cost of your accommodation.
- We will take legal action against anyone who compromises the safety of us, our staff and our other guests by tampering with our fire alarm system.
Sundays & Mondays
With immediate effect, we are closed on Sundays and Mondays. In exceptional circumstances and for longstanding regular guests, we may make the occasional exception to this.
Please note that as a very small business we do not charge VAT as we are below the VAT registration threshold.
