Frequently Asked Questions
What type of place is this?
Wedgewood House is classified as guest accommodation, which most people would understand to be guest house or B&B. It is however larger than most B&Bs with 7 guest rooms currently offered. The owners run the business themselves and live on the premises. It is not a hotel so there is no bar or restaurant and no 24 hour reception.
What do I need to bring?
Each room has a hairdryer We supply one bathtowel and one handtowel per person We supply a gel which serves as both shampoo and shower gel and a liquid handsoap. You will need to bring any other toiletries that you might need There is one shared iron and ironing board for guest use The rooms don't currently have alarm clocks, so you may wish to bring one. However, we have a spare alarm clock that you may use if you wish.
What time can I arrive and when do I have to check out by?
Rooms and car parking spaces are available from 3 pm. You can leave your bags earlier but we can’t guarantee that your room or the parking space will be available until 3 pm. Latest check in time is 9 pm. If you need to check in later than this, please get in touch with us before making your booking to make sure that we are able to meet your requirements, as it may not always be possible. We need to know what time you expect to arrive so that we can be sure that we are there to welcome you. Occasionally, we need to venture out for shopping etc! Check out time is 10.30 am.
Why can't I book for Saturday night only?
Sometimes it is possible so do check the availability calendar and feel free to ring us to ask. However, it's not always possible to do this for all of our rooms.
Can I leave my luggage?
As a general rule, we will be happy to look after your luggage during the day after you check out. However, you will need to arrange this with us.
What are the parking arrangements?
We have some parking in a small car park at the rear of the house and some on side streets with parking permits that we provide you with. Cars are parked in 2 rows of three, one row in front of the other. If you know that you will be using your car frequently during your stay or if you have a larger car, you may find it more convenient to park on the road (either Kingsley Road or Victoria Street). To do this you will need a parking permit which we can supply you with. Please note that we provide parking for cars only. If you have any other type of vehicle, such as a transit van or larger, please call us to discuss. Cars are parked at owner’s risk.
Where can I smoke?
Smoking is not permitted in any part of the building. It's now against the law. As we don't have any smoking shelters, we unfortunately, can't offer any facilities for smokers. You would have to smoke in the street or car park, wherever it is permitted.
Do you supply tea & coffee making facilities?
Your room is supplied with a kettle and a generous quantity of supplies for tea and coffee for your use whilst in Wedgewood House, together with some biscuits. Other beverages are available on request and these are: herbal or fruit teas and hot chocolate.
Are there any feathers in the room?
Some of the rooms have feather pillows. If you are allergic to feathers, just let us know and we'll make sure your room has synthetic pillows.
Is there a telephone in the room?
No. So many people now use mobile phones, that it would not be viable for us to put in a telephone system.
We have a copy of the Yellow Pages and the business/residential directory for this area.
Can I receive Visitors?
You may receive visitors only with our permission and only at reasonable times. For safety reasons, you must inform us of their arrival and departure and they must leave the building before 9 pm. We reserve the right to refuse entry.
