Access Statement

Introduction

Wedgewood House aims to cater for the needs of everyone who visits our guest house. We are located on a main road. We have 7 guest rooms. The building is an Edwardian property and as such has some features which may make access difficult for guests of limited mobility.

Pre Arrival

You can contact us by phone, SMS message to our phone number, fax or email – contact details are at the end of this document.

When we take your booking, we will ask you to advise an approximate arrival time to ensure that we are present to check you in when you arrive.

We can supply a large print brochure. We have a website which illustrates a selection of our rooms. We are happy to provide any further information about rooms as required. Our web site is a ‘home-made’ one, designed with accessibility in mind. It is tested regularly with an online W3C validator tool.

Arrival & Car Parking

Parking is provided for guests during the period of their stay only. We can provide parking permits to park in Kingsley Road, which is on the corner of the house, or Victoria Street which is the next road down. We also have a small car park at the rear of the building which is accessed by a private lane. At night, the car park and lane are illuminated by movement sensing lights. The lane is an unmade road but has a firm and relatively smooth surface. The car park is asphalted and three spaces are placed in front of three other spaces. Because of the limited number of spaces and the arrangement of those spaces, advance notice is required when a guest of limited mobility specifically needs to park in the car park.

On arrival, all guests should report to the main reception at the front door.

All guests will be required to complete a registration form on arrival. Guests are shown to their room and facilities are explained.

There is a low step up from the path and then once inside the door there is a matt well in a lobby area that you step down to, which is followed by another low step up to the main interior floor level. There is a second door at this point. The main entrance is a traditional Edwardian hallway of 114 cm width which is carpeted with short pile carpet.
