Introduction

Wedgewood House aims to cater for the needs of everyone who visits our guest house. We are located on a main road. We have 12 guest rooms. The building is an Edwardian property and as such has some features which may make access difficult for guests of limited mobility. The premises are attended by us or our staff at all times when guests are present.

Pre Arrival

You can contact us by phone, SMS message to our phone number, fax or email – contact details are at the end of this document.

When we take your booking, we will ask you to advise an approximate arrival time to ensure that we are present to check you in when you arrive.

We can supply a large print brochure. We have a website which illustrates a selection of our rooms. We are happy to provide any further information about rooms as required. Our web site is a ‘home-made’ one, designed with accessibility in mind. It is tested regularly with an online W3C validator tool.

Travel

Norwich train station is about 10 minutes travel by car.

The bus station is about 5 minutes walk.

Bus route 24 runs from across the road to the railway station to a few yards away from Wedgewood House

Bus route 25 runs from right outside the railway station to within 5 minutes walk of the house

There is a taxi rank at both the bus and railway stations

Arrival & Car Parking

Parking is provided for guests during the period of their stay only. We can provide parking permits to park in Kingsley Road, which is on the corner of the house, or Victoria Street which is the next road down. We also have a small car park at the rear of the building which is accessed by a private lane. At night, the car park and lane are illuminated by movement sensing lights. The lane is an unmade road but has a firm and relatively smooth surface. The car park is asphalted and three spaces are placed in front of three other spaces. Because of the limited number of spaces and the arrangement of those spaces, advance notice is required when a guest of limited mobility specifically needs to park in the car park.

We are happy to provide assistance with luggage. However, in the unusual event that there is an excessively heavy case, we will not attempt to carry it if we believe that it may cause injury to us or our staff. In these instances, we will be happy to assist with the partial unpacking of the case so that it becomes a weight that we can carry without risk.

On arrival, all guests should report to the main reception at the front door.

All guests will be required to complete a registration form on arrival. Guests are shown to their room and facilities are explained.

Main Entrance & Reception

There is a tiled path leading to the entrance door. At night, there are movement -sensing lights which illuminate automatically as you approach the door. The entrance door is key-operated and has a large brass push button bell in the centre of the door which is at a height of 120 cm. There is a low step up from the path and then once inside the door there is a matt well in a lobby area that you step down to, which is followed by another low step up to the main interior floor level. There is a second door at this point. The main entrance is a traditional Edwardian hallway of 114 cm width which is carpeted with short pile carpet. A portable induction loop is available for use in reception. Tables and chairs in the adjacent breakfast room can be used for check in if required.
